Helicopter Stories is an Early Years, Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 approach to communication and literacy skills based on the Storytelling and Story Acting curriculum of our patron Vivian Gussin Paley. MakeBelieve Arts has been pioneering this work in the UK since its conception in 2002. It forms part of our Storytelling Curriculum.

Every Lesson Outstanding

Tuesday 23rd May 2018 - 11th July 2018

Imagine observing every class in your school to see each lesson delivered in a confident, creative and purposeful way.

The Every Lesson Outstanding Programme has been written by a collaborative of seven North East Teaching Schools.  Comprising four intensive days the programme aims to challenge teachers to develop their knowledge, understanding and everyday practice so that they consistently and confidently deliver lessons of the very highest quality .

The programme will enable participants to

  • Know the key concepts underpinning outstanding practice
  • Understand the impact of these concepts in developing excellent learning
  • Deliver these concepts through consistent practice
  • Self-assess and audit their own teaching through learning activities, lesson observations, facilitated de-briefs and follow up mentoring

Programme content will cover the following:

• Session 1 - 23rd May  2018  Identifying and Securing Progress
• Session 2 - 13th June 2018  Assessment and Differentiation
• Session 3 - 27th June 2018  Challenge and Engagement
• Session 4 - 11th July  2018   Effective Dialogue

How do we know it works?
“It was great! I have so many ideas and things I want to try now; It’s the best CPD for pedagogy and planning I’ve been to so far. I am really looking forward to seeing the impact in my classroom. The staff were fantastic, really helpful and friendly.” Miss J Potter
