What is Helicopter Stories?
Helicopter Stories is an Early Years, Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 approach to communication and literacy skills based on the Storytelling and Story Acting curriculum of our patron Vivian Gussin Paley. MakeBelieve Arts has been pioneering this work in the UK since its conception in 2002. It forms part of our Storytelling Curriculum.
26th September 2018, 9.15am – 3.15pm at New York Primary School
A full day INSET which is highly interactive and includes a demonstration with a group of reception or nursery aged children as part of the day, as seeing the approach in action has a huge impact.
MakeBelieve Arts measure of success is that every delegate leaves the session ready to try the approach with their children the next day. The approach is suitable for anyone who works with children aged 2 to 7 years old. Helicopter Stories works well alongside Talk 4 Writing and the two approaches are often used to complement each other.

"Our Early Years Networks are held termly for any EY Teachers (Nursery & Reception) to come and share good practice. We currently have an email group of all interested parties that I have been emailing for any discussion items for an agenda.
So far we have looked at EY Baseline, Data, Tracking, Learning Journeys - electronic vs paper etc... People make suggestions of things they would like to discuss and we get together at different schools each time, have a look at any issues then have a look around the EY provision for sharing of ideas. "
Come along and join us for a cuppa, chat and a chance to share great ideas that will have a positive impact on your daily work / practice.

"If there's one person to really kick start your year then it has to be Shonette Bason-Wood. I've seen her a few times and she is brilliant. You come away uplifted and inspired and she agreed to come and do her Spread the Happiness CPD for us in September. About fifty EYFS and primary teachers gathered in the hall and we howled with laughter non-stop for two hours! She gave us loads of ideas to take away. We couldn't wait to get back to our classes!"
